The Identity Layer for the Cardano Ecosystem. Discover how EchoID enables individuals and organizations to establish sovereign, verifiable digital identities on the Cardano blockchain — without trusting any central authority.

The Identity Layer for the Cardano Ecosystem.

EchoID is a decentralized identity protocol built on the Cardano blockchain — a foundational piece of the EchoForge infrastructure suite that enables individuals and organizations to establish, own, and govern their digital identity without relying on any centralized authority.

In the current Web3 landscape, identity remains one of the most underbuilt primitives. Wallets exist, but they are pseudonymous by design. Certificates exist, but they float in disconnected silos. Organizations form, but their membership and authority structures leave no verifiable trace on-chain. EchoID is designed to solve this.

The Problem with Pseudonymous Wallets

A Cardano wallet address is not an identity — it is a cryptographic key pair. It tells you nothing about who holds it, what they have accomplished, or what communities they belong to. For a decentralized ecosystem to mature beyond speculative finance, it needs a richer identity layer.

EchoID does not seek to replace wallet addresses. Instead, it transforms them: layering structured, verifiable, and user-controlled profile data on top of the existing cryptographic foundation.

What EchoID Actually Stores

EchoID profiles live at the intersection of on-chain anchoring and off-chain metadata. When a user creates or updates their profile, the system:

Individual and Institutional Identities

EchoID supports two primary account types.

Individual profiles are designed for community participants, developers, researchers, and anyone who wants to establish a verifiable track record in the Cardano ecosystem. Individual identity tiers range from Shadow (Tier 1, newly joined) to Infinity (Tier 5, deeply embedded community anchor), computed from ADA holdings, tenure, credentials, and founder status.

Institutional profiles are designed for organizations: companies, research groups, DAOs, and protocol teams. Institutional identity requires domain verification — a 50 ADA on-chain payment that links your organization's web domain to your Cardano wallet, providing a root of trust that bridges the physical and digital worlds. Institutional tiers progress from Startup to Nexus.

Why On-Chain?

A profile stored only in a database can be deleted, falsified, or denied. An identity anchored on the Cardano blockchain is permanent, censorship-resistant, and independently verifiable by anyone with a Cardano node.

This matters because trust in Web3 should not depend on trusting any single company — including EchoForge. If EchoForge were to disappear tomorrow, every EchoID profile hash would remain on-chain, every certificate bound to it would remain verifiable, and every organizational affiliation would remain readable from the ledger.

We call this property sovereign identity: identity that belongs irrevocably to its holder, not to the platform that facilitated its creation.

EchoID and the Broader EchoForge Suite

EchoID does not operate in isolation. It is the identity backbone that every other Echo product reads from and writes to.

Privacy by Design

EchoID does not require your real name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. A profile consists only of a display name (chosen by you, changeable), a region (broad geographic category), credential bindings (opt-in), and your wallet address (public by nature).

All sensitive decisions — what to share, what to bind, what to make visible — remain entirely in the hands of the identity holder.

Getting Started

EchoID is currently accessible through EchoDash. Connect your Cardano wallet, complete a brief profile setup (display name and region), and your identity root is established. From there, you can acquire individual tier upgrades through EchoCert purchases, or initiate organizational identity through domain verification.

The identity you build is yours. The ledger keeps it honest.
